The GUJARAT WEDGE WIRE SCREENS LIMITED intake screen removes rubbish, stones, leaves and aquatic life forms from the flow prior to entering the supply pipe (penstock). This is often a requirement of environmental protection agencies. A poor intake is normally the cause of most hydro turbine system problems. Poor intakes may allow small stones to enter the penstock that can cause serious damage to the Pelton rotor or cause the jets to suddenly block resulting in severe water hammer that can rupture pipe and fittings.
Our GWWSL intake screen is not limited to small hydro schemes; it can also be used for domestic, farm, village and small town water supplies.
Our GWWSL intake screens are designed to provide low maintenance screening solutions for water intakes without the need for any moving parts. The self-cleaning ability and high abstraction flow capacity is due to the shape of the screen and the arrangement of the wedge wires that make up the screen.
The GWWSL screen uses the Coanda effect, which is the phenomena in which a jet flow attaches itself to a solid surface and remains attached, even when the surface curves away from the initial jet direction. The screen is built from wedge-shaped wires that have suitably angled faces to which the flow attaches.
Water is directed over the screen in a fast moving sheet, and the bars deflect it into a tank below whilst debris continues straight on and is washed off by the surplus flow.
Water and some fine silt particles (<1.5mm) pass through the screen, whilst larger silt and debris is excluded and deposited downstream. During times of low river flow the screen capacity may be greater than the available water. Under these conditions debris can build up on the lower parts of the screen. This will be washed off the next time the river flow rises above the screen capacity.
You can order your intake so that the pipe can attach on the left hand side (LHS), right hand side (RHS) or in the central location as shown below. The central option is possible but not advised, unless there is no space for a LHS or RHS fitting.
If possible you should avoid a sharp elbow connection to the intake casing. Once the pipe is connected to the intake it can be concreted over to help protect from floods. It is very unlikely you will ever need to separate the intake tank from the pipe again.
Each complete intake comes with:
Screen Specifications:
Coanda Intake Screen, also called Coanda Hydro Screen, provide self-cleaning with the special geometry based on the Coanda Effect phenomenon. The Coanda screen is capable to enable liquid-solid separation with high filtration performance. The hydro screen prevents the sediment, sticks, rock, and dirt with the small-sized openings with no-moving parts and no power requirement.
How Does It Technically Work?
The curved screen of the Coanda Screen consists of V-shaped wedge wires that are placed in exact locations that will create a Coanda effect for the filtration. These wedge wires have a specific gap and tilt angle relative to each other.
Water flows through this gap between the V-shaped wedge wires by preventing other particles. Thus, this gap and the tilt angle defines both capacity and filtration performance. Also, the curved shape of the Coanda screen helps the filtration process complete accurately by the exerted forces of flow. Unwanted particles such as sediment, rock and stick follow the curved shape with this exerted force. As a consequence, it provides self-cleaning.
In the design of the Coanda Screen, important parameters such as tilt angle, open gap, acceleration plate and curved screen must be taken into account. Because more gaps and high tilt angle cause poor filtration performance but high capacity. Thus, an undesirable situation occurs with ineffective filtration performance.
To avoid this poor filtration performance, important parameters such as gap, tilt angle and curve of the Coanda Screen must be calculated, designed and manufactured accurately for the best utilization of the Coanda Intake Screen. ADENCO is capable to provide accurate and customized design and manufacturing for your applications and requirements with our Coanda Screen Engineers.

Very high efficiency Baskets are made from Looped Wedge Wires in Conical shape, cylindrical shape and in double Cylindrical shape i.e. Pusher type centrifuge. The wedge wire baskets have clear advantage of very high filtration efficiency, longer life and accurate aperture over any other Conventional screen baskets. Conical and Cylindrical baskets can be tailor made to suit the customer requirement and maximum efficiency.
Wedge wire tubes are made during simultaneous winding of specially profiled working wires on a spiral and welding them to carrying wires placed along the tube. This technology allows the production of wedge wire screens when very high gap precision and screen resistance are required. Due to using the newest welding technology we can obtain various distances between carrying wires, very accurate and repeatable gap and therefore produce screens according to customers particular requirements.

Flat Panels are the most widely used type of Wedge Wire Screens mainly in the mineral processing both for stationery as well as vibratory decks. Flat panels manufactured by GUJARAT WEDGE WIRE SCREENS LIMITED are most dependable for effective sizing or classifying as they have accurate bar spacing from as low as 0. 01 mm to 4.5mm at interval of 0. 01 mm. Because of Looped construction they probably have the highest strength for any particular size and are self supporting and do not require support for long distances. The panels are either continuously or intermittently welded on the lower side of loop to provide complete rigidity to the panels thus becoming very effective in transmitting the vibrations without mechanical failures. The panels can be made with any type of fitment as per the requirement of the customers and for particular machines i.e. the side bar can be of Mild Steel or Stainless Steel square bar or of good quality, hook strips etc.

WHAT WE OFFER
Reliable screening for all your use cases
Designed with your operation in mind, Our DSM Screens are a curved concave wedge bar type of stationary screen made to be rugged, compact, efficient and easy to operate.
With no moving parts, these screens require minimal maintenance. Our full line of gravity-fed DSM Screens are available in the following types: 45°, 60°, 120°, 270°, 300°, and rapifine. They are often used in the following industries: mineral processing, chemical, food and pulp and paper.
Each of these screen sizes has been tailored for a variety of process applications. For example, the 45° DSM Screen is best suited for thickening and screening, whereas the 120° type DSM Screen is capable of thickening pulp, recovering fibre, or separating fibre as small as 100 microns in length from a water suspension. It is very compact and requires minimal maintenance.
The DSM's unique screen plate is made of wedge bars forming a bowed surface with horizontal slots between the bars. Normal slot width is 100 or 150 microns.
The flow to be screened is fed through a low-pressure nozzle which distributes the flow tangentially over the full screen width by means of an adjustable slice that optimises feed velocity. As the suspension flows along the screen plate, thin layers of water are "sliced off" by the screen bars and pass through the slots together with fine particles.

GUJARAT WEDGE WIRE SCREENS LIMITED has developed Rotary screens complete with side flanges and support/ drive drums of Stainless Steel/ Mild Steel mainly for Sugar and other Chemical plants to achieve very efficient filtration. Our rotary screens have very .high strength coupled with very high open area and rigid construction.
Rotary Wedge Wire Screens remove solids and other debris from wastewater flows to protect downstream equipment such as pumps and irrigation nozzles. The screens are suitable for all types of wastewater. The solid screenings are discharged by gravity. Screens are operating at Chemicals plant, Papers & Pulps, dairy farms and at food processors. They are designed to reduce blockages, maintenance and power consumption.
Rotary Wedge Wire Screen operation: The wastewater enters a weir and is evenly distributed onto the sidewalls of the drum. The solids are retained on the screen surface and the liquid flows through the screen openings. The solids are transported by flights to the open end of the drum. The rotation of the drum allows the entire screening surface to be continuously washed by the wastewater. Cleaning is also done by intermittent use of external spray nozzles.
Rotary Wedge Wire Screens feature: - In-feed flow distribution weir - Screen element of 304 stainless steel construction with screen size to suit flow and chosen screen aperture.

GUJARAT WEDGE WIRE SCREENS has developed run down screens (D.S.M. type) complete with box and curved wedge wire screens to suit particular requirements of the customer in Sugar, Paper and Pulp, Water treatment and Chemical industry
A no-moving part unit that cascades solid laden slurry downs a wedge wire screen to separate solids from liquids. The slurry is pumped or gravity fed into the unit’s top chamber, flows over a full width weir and cascades down the curved screens surface. The liquid passes through the screens voids into a collection chamber below. Solid particles larger than the screens void size stay on the surface, and as this accumulating mass increases in weight/volume, gently slides down the screens surface, compacted and further dewatered as it travels down. At the bottom discharge chute, the solids simply drop off or in some applications, go for further dewatering by a drum or screw press unit. The static screen version has it screen rigidly fixed in position whereas the other, more efficient unit, has its screen mounted to enable a small motor to vibrate it.

Structures of Sieve Bend Screen
Wedge wire sieve bends are made of stainless steel wedge wires. They are consist of a concave curved profile wire screen, which are inserted into a stainless steel frame. The wedge wire sieve bends are manufactured by wrapping and welding stainless steel V-shaped profile wire and support rods. Then the panel screens are cutting and curved into arc screen. The wedge wire sieve bends have continuous slots, which has efficient filtering performance. Forces exerted as materials flows against the curved surface, curved screen structure has better filtering and greater capacity than the wedge wire screen panel.
Working Principle of Sieve Bend Screen
DSM screen (sieve bend screen) is ideal for sizing and dewatering applications to remove solids from liquids or in solid/solid separation for dry feed situations. When the filtering materials flows against the sieve screens, Sieve bend screens can be manufactured into a variety of width, arc length and aperture to suit the flow rate and material sizing being separated. The feed materials are directed vertically and tangentially over the full width of the upper screen surface, then the material flows down the concave surface at right angles to the opening between wedge profiled wires. Wedge wire sieve bend screen has continuous slots, which supplies large open area and efficient filtering performance. Curved surface structure supplies higher flow rate, greater capacity and better filtering than wedge wire screen flat panels.
As a result, Thinner materials on the underside is deflected and passed out between the wires.

One of the main steps in the brewing process is lautering. In a word, its main job is to facilitate the filtration of crushed grains from the fermentation broth. This process is performed in a vessel called a lauter tun where false bottom is an integral part of the vessel. There are many different types of false bottoms for lautering. Finding the right equipment for the job is crucial important. Wedge wire screen is one of the main options for false bottom available on the market.
The main job of the false bottom is to support the mash bed and confine the grains above the floor, while allowing liquid wort from the spent wort to flow through it. There are false bottoms manufactured by different methods, such as perforated or slotted sheet metal. However, some inherent problems still exist in these false bottoms:
There are various benefits of using a false bottom made of wedge wire screen. These benefits provide an excellent alternative to solve the known problems inherently exist in other materials:

When you require the most effective method to remove solids, trust our ClearBlu wedge wire waterfall systems. View five reasons our products are the best.
GWWSL manufacturers wedge wire waterfall screens as a highly efficient and cost-effective alternative to other solids removal systems. A number of factors make these wedge wire screens an excellent choice.
Wedge wire screen
Models
0-150 GPM Wedge Wire Screen
This wedge wire screen is designed for flows from 0 to 100 GPM for hydro screens. GWWSL screens are unique in that they have a 60-degree slope and are self-cleaning in most applications. They have no moving parts. The concept is simple: run the wastewater over a weir and down over a wedge wire screen. The solids are pushed off the screen and the liquids pass through the wedge wire.
Wedge wire screen
There are several important factors in selecting a good waterfall filter. First, the spacing between the wedge wire bars can vary. Second, the top of the wedge wire is flat (wedge wire is made of flattened tubing) and the tops should be canted slightly so that they trap the water. Third, there needs to be sufficient runway at the top so that the water can gain velocity. This is accomplished by placing a smooth section of stainless just below the weir at the top. Fourth, the slope of the wedge wire needs to be steep. This is counterintuitive. It would seem that you would want a low slope to slow the water. Instead, you want a steep slope so that you don't build up solids on the wedge wire screen. Water is heavy and will pass through a steep screen. Manufacturer: MiTM
Waterfall screen
150 to 250 GPM Wedge Wire Screen
The Model 2 waterfall screen has six square feet of wedge wire screen surface and is half the size of the Model 3. This wedge wire screen effectively removes solid particles from a waste stream. Like the other types, this model uses very little energy and requires only a minimum amount of maintenance. It's ideal for many different applications including agriculture and manufacturing.
400 GPM Wedge Wire Screen
This unit will handle flows up to 400 gallons per minute. It has a 1 MM wedge wire screen. The key to hydro screens is having the correct angle on the screen and having enough runway for the water so that it gains sufficient velocity over the wedge wire screen. This seems counterintuitive. Most manufacturers lower the slope and try to slow the water. This creates clogging and water bypass.
Our unit has a 60-degree slope. The screen is 48" wide and 36" long. The unit is stainless steel.
Wedgewire Waterfall Screens
Waterfall screens are ideal for effectively removing fibrous and solid particles from a waste stream. An automatic self-cleaning spray bar runs on a timer to continually keep the screen free from debris buildup. These screens use very little energy and require very little maintenance.
Applications:
Wedgewire waterfall screens are available in three sizes:
Standard wedge wire is available in 0.5 mm and 1 mm spacing, but custom spacing is available. All models are available with stands in carbon or stainless steel. For solids handling, self-dumping dewatering hoppers from ¼ yard to 5 yards in size are available. Dewatering screens are stainless steel mesh behind stainless steel perf plate with ½" openings. The hopper is carbon steel with an option to come painted or galvanized.
